Individual circuits for protected installations
The Blue Sea BS 5037 fuse block from the ST series is the problem-solver for complex and custom wiring on board yachts or in recreational vehicles. Instead of distributing power from a single thick main cable to all consumers as with standard fuse blocks, the BS 5037 serves as a compact holder for six completely isolated fuses.
Since each of the six slots features its own input and output, you can protect lines that originate from completely different power sources. This allows for organizing, for example, continuous power (unswitched) and switched power, or even different voltage sources, side-by-side in a single, tidy block. Designed without a protective cover, the module offers a minimal profile and is excellent for mounting behind touch-protected panels.
The decisive difference: Blue Sea 5037 in comparison
Within the Blue Sea ST series, there are various 6-circuit fuse blocks. The BS 5037 distinguishes itself through the combination of independent circuits and the absence of a cover:
- Distinction from model BS 5035: Model 5035 is electrically identical (6 independent circuits) but is supplied including a protective polycarbonate cover. The 5037 offered here is the flatter and more cost-effective choice if the block is already situated safely behind a panel.
- Distinction from model BS 5033: Model 5033 also comes without a cover, but possesses a common positive pole (common source). With the 5033, all 6 fuses share the same power input, while the 5037 allows for six separate power feeds.
- Note on ground: Due to the individual circuit design, this model does not have an integrated negative busbar.
BS 5037 - Advantages of robust marine quality despite low-profile design
The base of the fuse block consists of flame-retardant, reinforced polycarbonate. To ensure the best possible conductivity and extreme corrosion protection in salty air, all current-carrying contacts are made of tinned copper. The robust terminal screws (#8-32) for the ring terminals are factory-equipped with captive star washers – this ensures a vibration-resistant hold even under heavy engine and shaft vibrations.
Key advantages at a glance:
- Completely independent: 6 completely isolated circuits (each with its own input and output).
- Versatile: Ideal for bundling separate lines or mixed voltage networks.
- Ultra-compact: Without a cover, it is perfect for installations with minimal mounting depth.
- High-performance: Allows up to 30 Amps per individual circuit (max 32V DC).
- Vibration-resistant & Marine-grade: Tinned copper contacts and terminal screws with integrated star washers.
