The Blue Sea BS 5035 fuse block from the ST series is a specialist for custom wiring on board yachts and motorhomes. While standard fuse blocks distribute power from a single thick main line to multiple consumers, the BS 5035 takes a different approach: it functions as a compact holder for six completely isolated fuses.
This means: you have 6 separate inputs and 6 separate outputs. This design is ideal when you need to protect circuits coming from different power sources, or when you want to organize, for example, switched and unswitched positive leads right next to each other in a single, tidy block.
The decisive difference: Blue Sea 5035 in comparison
Within the 6-circuit ST series, there are fundamental electrical differences that make the BS 5035 unique:
- Model BS 5028: The 5028 is the classic fuse block with a common positive pole (common source). With the 5028, you connect one main cable, and all 6 fuses draw from this single source. With the BS 5035 (Independent Source), each of the 6 slots has its own power input.
- Model BS 5037: The 5037 model is technically identical to the 5035 (6 independent circuits), but is delivered without a protective cover. The BS 5035 offered here provides additional touch protection via the included cover and is the safer choice for exposed installations.
Advantages of the Blue Sea Systems BS 5035
The included transparent cover, made of flame-retardant polycarbonate, can be opened without tools via a push-button latch. It protects the contacts against short circuits and meets strict ABYC and USCG insulation requirements. On the outside, the cover offers recesses for labeling stickers (sold separately), while the inside can hold two spare fuses.
All current-carrying contacts are made of tinned copper to ensure first-class conductivity and maximum protection against corrosion. The robust terminal screws (#8-32) for ring terminals feature integrated, captive star washers – for an absolutely vibration-resistant hold, even in heavy seas.
The most important advantages at a glance:
- Completely independent: 6 completely isolated circuits (each with its own input and output).
- Versatile application: Ideal for bundling separate lines or mixed voltage networks (e.g., constant power and switched power side-by-side).
- High performance: Allows up to 30 amperes per individual circuit (max. 32V DC).
- Safe insulation: Includes an ABYC/USCG-compliant cover with space for spare fuses and labels.
- Vibration-resistant & Marine-grade: Tinned copper contacts and screw terminals with integrated star washers.
