BS 5030 for efficient power distribution in protected installation spaces
The Blue Sea BS 5030 fuse block from the established ST series is aimed at boat builders and outfitters setting up an electrical system within a protected space – such as in a control cabinet, behind a fuse panel, or in a splash-proof installation box. It distributes power from a central positive stud (M5) to six separately fused circuits. The permanently installed, tinned copper busbars and high-quality screw terminals ensure lossless power transmission even under heavy vibration.
The key difference: Blue Sea 5030 in comparison
Within the ST series, there are various 6-circuit fuse blocks. The BS 5030 model is characterized by the combination of an integrated negative busbar and the absence of a protective cover.
- Distinction from model BS 5025: Model 5025 is technically identical (6 circuits, integrated negative busbar) but is supplied including a polycarbonate cover (ABYC/USCG compliant). The BS 5030 is the slimmer and more cost-effective alternative if the block is being installed in a touch-safe area anyway and an additional cover would only be obstructive or take up space.
- Distinction from model BS 5028: The 5028 has a cover, but has no negative busbar.
- Distinction from model BS 5033: Model 5033 is also supplied without a cover, but has no integrated negative busbar. The BS 5030, on the other hand, allows the ground wires of the consumers to be connected directly to the block, which significantly reduces cable clutter.
Robust maritime quality of the Blue Sea BS 5030
Even without a cover, Blue Sea Systems makes no compromises on quality. The base consists of heat-resistant, reinforced polycarbonate. The connection screws (#8-32) for the consumer cables are equipped with captive star washers. This guarantees that ring terminals cannot loosen, even in heavy seas or with constant engine vibrations.
The most important advantages at a glance:
- Space-saving design: Ideal for tight panels and installation boxes without a cover.
- All-in-one wiring: Integrated negative busbar for an extremely clean grouping of ground wires.
- High load capacity: 100 Ampere total load (max. 30 Ampere per individual circuit).
- Marine-grade: Current-carrying components made of tinned copper to prevent corrosion.
- Vibration-resistant: Screw terminals with integrated star washers for a permanently secure hold.
